Iaroslav Gregirchak
Deputy Business Ombudsman at Business Ombudsman Council
Iaroslav Gregirchak currently serves as the Deputy Business Ombudsman of Ukraine — senior semi-governmental role he asserted in May 2015 at the appointment of the Cabinet of Ministers. At the Business Ombudsman Council Iaroslav leads the team of 6 investigators. He authored 7 Council’s systemic reports focused on such challenges with the quality of business environment in Ukraine as administering taxes, abuse of powers by law enforcement authorities, promotion of economic competition, getting access to electricity, combatting raidership, improving customs and administrative appeal procedure.
As for his background, Iaroslav is a seasoned lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in cross-border finance and M&A as well as strong interest in GR/public policy, ADR/international arbitration and corporate governance.
In 2004–2010 Iaroslav occupied leading positions with international law firms Chadbourne & Parke and Gide Loyrette Nouel. Besides, he acquired commercial law reform experience with the World Bank and USAID as the expert in such fields as secured transactions (in Ukraine and Azerbaijan) and public finance.
In 1996 Iaroslav graduated from the Faculty of Law of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University. In 2002, he received Master of Laws (LL. M) degree from McGill University (Montreal, Canada). In 2016 he became Fellow at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London, UK). Recently Iaroslav was selected as 2020–21 Marshall Memorial Fellow.
