Anar Rahimov was born in 1979 in Baku, Azerbaijan. He graduated from the Baku State University, International Law and International Relations faculty with a specialization in International Law. He has a Master’s Degree from the Baku Western University, International (European) Law specialization, and is a Ph. D. candidate at the International Relations and Political Science Department of the Baku Khazar University with a thesis on parliamentary diplomacy. Anar is a participant of the Democracy Fellowship Program organized by the European Parliament and Capacity Building in International Relations program organized by the Swiss Graduate Institute of International Studies. His professional career started with work in the International Relations Department of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the position of advisor between 2000 and 2004. In 2004 he moved to the International Relations Department of Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the same position. From 2005 till 2011 Anar has been working in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) on the position of the Secretary of the Committee on Economic, Commercial, Technological and Environmental Affairs Committee (headquarters in Istanbul, Turkey). Since 2011 Anar works in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic-speaking Countries (TURKPA) as a Head of Legal Expertise, Public Relations and Protocol Section (headquarters in Baku, Azerbaijan). In this position, Anar is also in charge of relations with a number of leading international organizations, primarily with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and its relevant institutions.
