Consolidating Сoalitions Around Emerging Ridesharing Regulations in CEE
The ridesharing sector is a new emerging global industry, which in the last two years produced several unicorns. In the meantime, the attention of government policy makers and legislators to the sector has been increasing. Also, in many countries the traditional taxi services and taxi drivers’ union oppose the new rapidly developing ride-sharing services, accusing them of unfair competition and abusing the drivers’ rights.
Uber, as a global leader of ride-sharing and urban mobility, has embarked on a mission of partnering with governments in the CEE and globally to help create a legislation which consolidates the interests of passengers, drivers, ride-sharing companies, taxi services and governments.
In the interview, Mark Boris Andrijanic, the regional CEE Head of Public Policy at Uber will share the strategies his company used to consolidate the ride-sharing sector in the region around the need to upgrade the regulatory framework by the means of:
-
Taking opinion leadership role on advising governments on the best global practices for ride-sharing regulation;
-
Creating task forces and working groups with all major stakeholders;
-
Engaging with customers, industry players and NGOs to find consensus on the most debated issues;
-
Finding common ground with opponents and competitors.
